Picnic in the Moat

Tourists- individuals or groups may even rent blankets and picnic baskets filled with food and drinks upon request. Groups of tourists will be waited on by girls dressed in costumes of the secession period – as if taken directly out of the times of Fráňa Šrámek’s studies and who lived in the U koulí House right above the Moat. It is also possible to have a guide and live musical accompaniment.

The Gothic Moat by the Putim Portal in Pisek – with access either from • along the river from the Old Bridge • the Putim Portal from the Great Square • or from the direction of the railway station - the third bank from the parking lot by the Narození Panny Marie church. Parking and public restrooms are also placed there. The entire program takes place in the Moat- the focus is on calm sitting or resting on blankets in the grass plus snacks from the picnic baskets. Blankets and full baskets can be picked up at the reception desk in the Biograf hotel in Gregova Street. The Gothic Moats were reclaimed in 2006 as a part of the project called “Regeneration of the Historical Centre of Písek on the Banks of the River Otava Between the Old Stone Bridge and the Putim Gate”, which has been co-financed by the European Union, the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic and the town of Písek.
