Hiking experience around the medieval town of Freistadt

The hiking programme: Arrival in Freistadt in the afternoon. Enjoy the first hours of your holiday in your place of accommodation. The second day, hiking tour along the Nordwaldkammweg (Bohemian Forest path) to the vantage point mountain of Mühlviertel – the Braunberg with an altitude of 907 m and back again to Freistadt. On the third day a walk to the romantically wild valley Thurytal with a blacksmith’s demonstration at the second Thuryhammer. The hiking programme for the fourth day is “on the track”. You travel to Summerau by train and walk to the nostalgic horse-drawn railway in Kerschbaum. After a short journey and visit to the museum you walk back to Freistadt along the horse-drawn railway hiking path. Culture and relaxation with a visit to the Mühlviertler Schlossmuseum (castle museum) and a stroll through the town are on the programme for the fifth day. The 28 km long medieval experience path Freistadt, or a part of it, is the special hiking experience for the sixth day of your stay. If you like you can get to know the romantic town of Freistadt during a guided tour of the town in the evening. The next day you return back home.
