Milevské maškary are currently the largest carnival parade in the Czech Republic (the holder of the Czech record in the number of masks in the carnival parade) and also the oldest carnival tradition in South Bohemia. Milevské maškary are unique and therefore they were registered on the List of non-material goods of the traditional folk culture of the South Bohemian Region.
This year the 156th traditional carnival parade as well as the 3rd Masquerade Festival are going to take place in Milevsko. On Friday 9th of February the visitors will certainly enjoy the Bakus´s procession, the Olympic Relay and the fire theatre, On Saturday 10th of February there is going to be held a magnificent carnival parade and a rich entertainment programme - pork feasts, fairs and a fancy dress party.
On this occasion everyone should visit the unique Museum of Milevské maškary (the entrance is in the Tourist Information Centre – address: Edvard Beneš Square 6), which is the only museum of its kind in the Czech Republic.
