Landštejn Castle was built at the beginning of the 13th century probably by the Moravian Přemyslids as a point of support for the territory of Bohemia, Moravia and Austria. With its conception of two towers connected by a palace, it is a unique complex of its kind in Bohemia and is one of three preserved Romanesque castles in our country and one of the most important Romanesque monuments in Central Europe. The upper part of the higher tower is modified as a viewport. It opens a view of the deep forests of Czech Canada.
The exhibition features castle history, local archeological finds and medieval weapons. In the mighty walls of the castle he once enjoyed the German poet Friedrich von Schiller, who placed the story of his "Robbers" in the surrounding forests.
During the summer season many cultural events take place in the castle area.
