Two buildings on Balbínovo square and Štítného street house the Museum of Jindřichův Hradec, whose history goes back to 1882. Most of the exhibitions are located in the former Jesuit seminary on Balbínovo Square. Undoubtedly the most famous exhibit in the Museum of Jindřichův Hradec is the largest mechanical nativity scene in the world – Krýza's Créche, which took the author, the local stocking master Tomáš Krýza, more than 60 years to create. This unique piece has been listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. The nativity scene includes 1,398 figures of people and animals, of which 133 are moving.
