Town of Bavorov

Town of Bavorov

A Czech town located in the northwestern part of the South Bohemian Region, by the Blanice River. The town of Bavorov was founded by the Bavors of Strakonice, who also built a small castle above the Blanice Valley at the same time.

In 1351, the castle and town were sold to the Rožmberk family. The Bavorov Castle probably ceased to exist in the 14th century when the Rožmberks moved the administration of the estate to the newly built Helfenburk Castle.
