Trail through the Czech Canada

Vast, mysterious forests, rock formations and boulders of various shapes, characteristic ponds, and lively villages and towns — this is the landscape of Czech Canada, through which the trail leads from Jindřichův Hradec via Nová Bystřice and Slavonice all the way to Dačice.

The trail is the result of many hours and days spent exploring the Czech Canada countryside — and it’s designed to let you experience as much as possible of this beautiful region.

At the start of the trail, you’ll follow the winding Hamerský Stream and the Jindřišské Valley. From there, you’ll head past the highest point of the Jindřichův Hradec area to Nová Bystřice and continue on, along paths near the majestic ruins of Landštejn Castle. From Staré Město pod Landštejnem, the trail leads past a bison farm in Rožnov, to the Zvůle pond, and onward to the U Jakuba lookout tower and the Devil’s Buttock boulder. On the way from the renovated chateau in Český Rudolec, you’ll encounter places once roamed by the infamous robber Grasel, as well as archaeological excavations at Pfaffenschlag near Slavonice. From there, the final section takes you along the Vydří educational trail all the way to Dačice.
