Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua in Javorník

Romantic corners with a view of South Bohemia

The modern rotunda was built in 1939-1940 on the slope of the highest mountain in the former Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. It stood on the new borders of Bohemia and the occupied Sudetenland. The chapel is situated at an altitude of 1009 m above sea level and offers a magnificent view of Javorník, Stasia and the Vimperk region.
The modern rotunda of St. Anthony of Padua, which was consecrated on 4 August 1940 on the slope of the highest mountain of the former Protectorate of Böhmen und Mähren, is located at the ski lift of the Javorník Ski Resort. The chapel offers a magnificent view of Javorník, Stasia and Vimperk from an altitude of 1009 m above sea level.

Every year, on the first Sunday after the feast of St. Anthony in June, a famous pilgrimage is held at Javorník.
