South Bohemia through Austrian Eyes

Looking for a more active side of South Bohemia—one that combines outdoor adventures, iconic sights, and a taste of local traditions? Austrian influencer Linda Baier (@linda_lime) explored the region through movement and hands-on experiences: cycling, ferrata climbing, scooter rides, a bobsleigh run, and encounters with Czech heritage.

Her trip shows that South Bohemia is not just about beautiful places, but also about experiences you can truly enjoy. You can follow her journey here.

Here’s her trip, day by day.

Day 1 - Lipno nad Vltavou

The journey begins at Lipno nad Vltavou, one of South Bohemia’s top outdoor destinations. Start with a bike ride along Lipno Lake, the largest body of water in the Czech Republic, often called the South Bohemian Sea.

In the afternoon, walk the Lipno Treetop Walkway, then head down via the dry toboggan and continue on a downhill scooter back to Lipno. Add an adrenaline boost on the Lipno bobsleigh track, and finish the day with a stroll along Molo Lipno, the longest lake pier in Central Europe, offering wide views over the lake and the Šumava hills.

Day 2 - Český Krumlov

Spend the day in Český Krumlov. Walk through the castle courtyards and climb the castle tower for panoramic views of the historic centre. Next, enjoy a sightseeing cruise on a wooden raft along the Vltava River—a memorable way to experience Krumlov from the water.
In the afternoon, try a vintage photoshoot at the Fotoatelier Seidel Museum, followed by an active finish on Ferrata Havranka.

In the afternoon, enjoy a boat trip through the historic centre of České Budějovice, then continue to nearby Hluboká nad Vltavou Castle, one of the most photogenic castles in the Czech Republic. Finish the day in Holašovice, a charming UNESCO-listed village.
