Peasant Festival Holašovice 2022
The Holašovice village square (UNESCO) will be the venue of the traditional Peasant Festival from Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th July 2022.
After a two-year break, the craft fair will take place in the picturesque surroundings of the Holašovice farmhouses for the twenty-third time. A rich cultural programme, more than 220 stallholders and a shuttle service from České Budějovice and back will be prepared for visitors.
The Old Bohemian Fair in the backdrop of the Holašovice farmhouses is organised in a similar spirit to the markets held in the second half of the nineteenth century or at the beginning of the twentieth century. Period folk crafts, handicrafts and other examples of folk creativity of the golden Czech hands are presented.
Visitors will once again have a unique opportunity to see demonstrations of original craft techniques, skill and flair for traditional craftsmanship and even try some of the crafts themselves. Folk entertainment is part of a good fair, so there will be performances such as jugglers, children's favourite horse rides and a wooden hand-powered carousel. We will play as our parents' and grandparents' children used to play, catch carp from a tub in our hands, or compete for the best South Bohemian cake or bun. There is a traditional and exceptionally rich cultural programme of various genres such as brass band, folk, folklore or country music.
