Semenec Observation Tower
One of our smallest observation towers is located at the foot of the Semenec hill on the western edge of the town of Týn nad Vltavou.
From a height of 4 meters, the observation tower offers views of the Vltava River, the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant, and the surrounding landscape. The best visibility is in spring and winter.
The red tourist trail continues to Koloděje nad Lužnicí and along the Lužnice River to Bechyně. Not far from the observation tower, there is another viewpoint in the forest overlooking the town of Týn nad Vltavou.
The tower was built in the 1930s as a reinforced concrete multi-story structure, probably designed by local builder Jaroslav Vojna.
The path to the tower, today's Alej Míru (Alley of Peace), boasts an interesting history. Formerly known as the "Princess Stefanie's Alley," it was planted in honor of the Belgian Princess Stefanie on the occasion of her marriage to Crown Prince Rudolf of Habsburg in 1881.

Do you know that...
...the site of today's observation tower originally featured a wooden gazebo, which was presented by the Vltavotýn company M. Máry (owner of the circular brickyard) at the District Exhibition in Týn nad Vltavou in 1922? The pavilion was later purchased by the local Orchard and Beautification Association for 6,000 crowns and erected as an observation tower on a rock above the Vltava River, offering a beautiful view of the town.
