Locus Perennis - Lišov Constant Point

One of the country’s most important technical heritage sites is located west of the South Bohemian town of Lišov, near the rest areas by the main road from České Budějovice to Třeboň. It is a primary surveying benchmark, the only survivor of the original nine in Austria-Hungary for the Czech Lands. It is located at an elevation of 564.759 m. The point was surveyed in 1878 and marked with a two-meter pyramidal monument composed of three parts in 1890. The place, known as the Constant Point, or Locus Perennis, was formerly erroneously identified by lay people as the center of Europe.
