The Lipno Hydroelectric Power Plant is part of the Vltava cascade

The Lipno Hydroelectric Power Plant is part of the Vltava cascade. A 50 km2 water reservoir is the largest artificial lake in the Czech Republic and is thus rightly called the "South Bohemian Sea". It reaches a length of 44 km and at the widest point (at Černá v Pošumaví) the distance of both banks is 10 km. Tank volume is 309 million m3 of water and is used for multi-year runoff management.

The Lipno hydropower station is available for most of the year on the basis of a written or telephone order (16th September - 14th June). In the summer tourist season (15th June - 15th September), the center is open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last tour from 3 p.m.). The visitors' information center provides a screening of films for all visitors, an expert interpretation in the competence of their employees and a functional model of the power plant. Interpretation in German is possible every Wednesday and Friday.
