Advent Days at Jindřichův Hradec Castle
The National Heritage Institute, the State Castle and Château Jindřichův Hradec, and the Association for the Restoration of Monuments in the Jindřichův Hradec Region cordially invite you to visit the Advent Days on the second weekend of Advent, December 6 and 7.
The two-day program will offer a variety of artistic performances. The castle’s Rondel will be transformed into a ballroom, where the Ballare dance group will showcase their art. Small theatrical performances will take place in the courtyard, the Royal Hall of the Gothic Palace, and the Chapel of the Holy Spirit. Once again, visitors can look forward to the arrival of Lord Henry IV of Hradec and his entourage. On Saturday, the chapel will resonate with a performance by the Adam Michna Church Choir, and on Sunday, it will host the traditional ecumenical service with clergy from three Christian denominations.
A marketplace with original goods will be held in the second and third courtyards. Some vendors return regularly, but there will also be new faces and products to discover. The over 500-year-old black kitchen will once again be in operation.
Children and adults alike will enjoy the small menagerie in the third courtyard, as well as an exhibition of trained birds of prey and archery in the second courtyard. A blacksmith, potters, basket weaver, and sculptor will demonstrate their crafts. In the castle’s creative workshop in the Spanish Wing, visitors — young and old alike — can try their hand at making Christmas decorations from natural materials.
