Christmas Concert of the South Bohemian Theatre Opera
Experience the sacred atmosphere of Christmas at the traditional Christmas concert of the South Bohemian Theatre in St. Nicholas Cathedral in České Budějovice.
For this festive evening, we have chosen two exceptional pieces that will make the cathedral ring with their poetry and spiritual dimension. The first of these, the cantata To Have a Star Within by composer Mikoláš Troup, which we present traditionally, gently prepares us for the coming of the Christ Child in deep silence and expectation. In the second part we will hear the cantata Christmas by Luboš Fišer, who masterfully arranged Czech and Moravian carols. Fišer's sensitive depiction of Christmas music, with its emphasis on contrasting harmonies and impressive instrumentation, enhances the experience of these familiar melodies and leads us to the climactic song, Christ the Lord is Born.
