Jan Schmid - Exhibition of theatre posters, Tábor
Jan Schmid, a prominent figure of Czech post-war theatre culture and founder of Studio Ypsilon, gave his theatre an unmistakable visual identity.
His artistic signature - simple lines, playfulness and subtle humour - was also reflected in the theatre posters, which he saw as a living part of the production. This exhibition presents a selection of Schmid's posters from the Theatre Institute's collection, showing them not only from the front but also from the reverse side, which served as a program and documented the process of creating the productions. The exhibition confirms the exceptional position of Jan Schmid in Czech theatre and visual culture.
Curator of the exhibition Barbora Hudáčková (Theatre Institute)
Organized in cooperation with the National Institute for Culture.
The exhibition will open on Saturday, 28 March at 6 p.m.
