Černá hora near Kvilda
Visit the lookout platform at 1,315 metres above sea level.
Set out for a breathtaking viewpoint on Černá hora, officially opened in 2017, and rightfully ranked among the most beautiful viewpoints in Šumava. The lookout is accessible via a 400 m path from the main red-marked tourist trail leading from Bučina through the crossroads near the Vltava springs, specifically to the Bird Reservoir (Ptačí nádrž). The observation platform stands approximately 3 metres tall and is built from tree trunks naturally selected by Mother Nature for decay. At the top, there is a wooden table with benches, so visitors can enjoy not only the panoramic view but also a picnic from their backpack. During favourable conditions, especially autumn inversions or cold sunny days, the Alpine peaks – more than 150 km away – may be visible.
