Walking route along the Vltava River towards Purkarec
Following the Vltava cycle path along the Vltava River, you can reach the village of Purkarec by bike or on foot. The route leads through natural scenery near the Stará obora (Old Game Reserve), passes through the Karvanice Nature Reserve, along the rocky promontory Baba (5.5 km) with a view into the valley, and takes you to the ruins of Karlův Hrádek (10.2 km). In Purkarec (12.2 km), you can visit the Rafting Museum, see a 13th-century church, and take a ferry across the Vltava River to continue on marked trails. The route is suitable for strollers thanks to the solid surface and is moderately demanding terrain for cyclists. The trail is equipped with rest areas and educational panels.
