Galerie Mariánská – České Budějovice
A new gallery in České Budějovice showcasing a wide spectrum of art
Visitors to České Budějovice can explore the newly renovated building of the former barracks, now transformed into a captivating art space – Galerie Mariánská.
The Mariánská Barracks were built in 1844 and hosted figures such as Václav Havel and Jaroslav Hašek during their military service. After 1990, however, the building gradually fell into disrepair. Thanks to a private investor who purchased the site in 2011 and renovated it four years later, the building has taken on its present form.
This gallery presents a broad range of art, from photography, painting, sculpture, architecture, and applied arts to new media. In a pleasant atmosphere, visitors can enjoy the work of both Czech and international artists and explore contemporary and historical art. The exhibitions are not permanent and change regularly, ensuring visitors always discover something new.
