Rock Formation Devil’s Butt

Rock Formation Devil’s Butt

The funniest boulder in Bohemian Canada – every visitor wants a photo with this original.

Bohemian Canada is known for its various granite rock formations, including real giants and curious groupings. Some have developed so-called rock basins over a meter in diameter, which were once thought to have ritual purposes.

One such curious rock formation lies hidden in the woods near the Zvůle pond. It is located near the settlement of U panského lesa, in the triangle formed by the villages of Terezín, Nový Svět, and Valtínov, about 200 meters off the green tourist trail. Once you see it, you'll know it couldn't be named anything else. It’s called Devil’s Butt. This unusually shaped boulder is considered the most famous and iconic rock formation in the Bohemian Canada Nature Park. You can reach it via a footpath through a meadow branching off the green tourist trail between Valtínov and Terezín. A great alternative is to combine the visit with a trip to the U Jakuba lookout tower and its newly built adventure-educational forest park for children. From there, one of two newly established educational trails, aptly named “To the Devil’s Butt,” leads to the boulder – a fun trip for kids!

Another clearly shaped formation is the Stone Table, hidden in the woods along the yellow trail between Kunějov and Kunějovské samoty – likely a prehistoric megalithic monument. Among the countless rock formations dotting Bohemian Canada, also worth mentioning is the Devil’s Bread, located about halfway along the red trail from Zvůle to the Na Jitrách settlement.
