Novohrad Forge
A site with a permanent exhibition and the opportunity to try simple blacksmith’s tasks.
On the route from the Novohrad square to the castle is the forge building, first mentioned in 1719 as the Grössinger family’s forge.
The forge operated until 1879; afterward, the building was mainly used for housing. In 2001–2002 the forge was renovated and is now open to the public. From June to August, visitors can view an exhibition of blacksmithing and agricultural tools. The entire forge is on display, including a blacksmithing exhibit, a collection of traditional forged items, and during Easter and Christmas events, even the residential interiors. Occasionally, demonstrations of traditional blacksmith’s work are held. Outside the summer season, public events like Easter and Christmas forging and various blacksmith gatherings take place regularly.
