Historic Town of Nová Bystřice
The first mention of Nová Bystřice dates back to 1175. The historical core of the town is an urban heritage zone, where you can find the Church of St. Catherine, the Church of St. Peter and Paul, the Plague Column with the statue of the Holy Trinity, and also a chateau.
Another noteworthy cultural monument in the vicinity is the early Baroque pilgrimage Church of the Holy Trinity in Klášter, built between 1668 and 1682. The church’s façade houses one of the largest wooden altars in Central Europe. Nová Bystřice is also the final station of the narrow-gauge railway from Jindřichův Hradec, opened in 1897.
