Additional information

The deepest water reservoir in Bohemia is especially attractive to lovers of water sports and yachting. You can admire it not only from Zvíkov Castle or the famous Žďákov Bridge, but also from the massive dam itself near the village of Solenice, which reaches a height of 91 meters. It is possible to take a guided tour of the power plant located inside the dam—prior reservation is required.

Do you know that...

…Did you know that the Orlík Reservoir boasts several unique features? It is the most voluminous lake in the Czech Republic, with the tallest concrete dam and the second most powerful hydroelectric power plant in the country. The dam itself is a gravity dam, and the concrete it is made from is based on a Czechoslovak patent in the field of concrete engineering. The machinery that produced the concrete in the 1950s was the most advanced in the world, including digital scales and a construction laboratory. Guided tours of the facility are available all year round.
