Ruins of the Windmill near Příčovy
The largest Dutch-style windmill in Europe stands near Sedlčany.
On a rocky hill near the village of Příčovy rise the remains of a Dutch-style windmill. With its diameter, it ranks among the largest constructions of its kind in Europe. The age of the "Windmill" is still debated. Its builder was probably the pond engineer Jakub Krčín of Jelčany and Sedlčany, or possibly the Lobkowicz family. The building was likely erected before 1606 and operated until the 18th century. According to experts, it was a cylindrical tower windmill of enormous proportions, with no equivalent today. A wooden structure was likely housed inside the masonry body. The site is freely accessible.
