Hus’s Pulpit

Hus’s Pulpit

The largest rocking stone in the Czech Republic hides in the forests near Petrovice in the Sedlčany region.

There are hundreds of granite stones around Petrovice – after all, the area is known as the “Land of Stones”! But you won’t miss the biggest of them. It is 4 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, 2.5 meters high, and the largest rocking stone in the entire country!

Its unusual name – Hus’s Pulpit – suggests that the legends of Master Jan Hus’s activities in the region may have some truth to them. The stone is a protected natural monument, and some say it even radiates a special energy. You’ll find it in a sparse forest above the village of Žemličkova Lhota near Petrovice. It’s at its most beautiful in the morning or evening light.
