Ounuz
A heritage-protected village where the fairy tale "Johnny Almost a King" was filmed.
Ounuz is a small village hidden in the hills of the Bohemian Meran region, not far from Javorová Skála. Surrounded by pastures and the mysterious Devil’s Stones, it is composed of several timbered buildings that give the village its character. Most of them have been preserved in their original form, making Ounuz a living open-air museum of folk architecture.
A walk through the village and its surroundings is truly worth it, no matter which direction you choose. Everywhere you go, you’ll find beautiful views of the rolling landscape of Bohemian Meran. The picturesque wooden houses with thatched roofs and the stone bell tower of the Virgin Mary might seem familiar – they were featured in the fairy tale film Johnny Almost a King.
