Church of St. Brictius in Dobev
A beautiful example of stonemasonry in one of the smallest churches in the Písek region.
A few kilometres west of Písek, by the main road passing through the village of Dobev, stands a small original Gothic church dating from the late 14th century. This is one of the most remarkable medieval rural churches in South Bohemia, unique for its stonemasonry – pay attention to the window jambs, rib consoles, vault keystones and portals. Don’t miss the wooden ceiling with ornamental painting and the main altar dedicated to a little-known saint in Bohemia, St. Brictius.
