Church of St. Catherine in Kestřany
A church with one of the richest Baroque decorations in the Písek region.
Since the village hosted powerful Gothic fortresses and later a château, the construction of a church outside of these premises was apparently unnecessary for a long time. The local sanctuary therefore likely dates back only to the 16th century. It stands out, however, with one of the richest Baroque interiors in the Písek area. Among its furnishings are paintings of the Black Madonna of Cologne and Our Lady of Karlov, several richly decorated altars in Rococo style, and a beautifully carved baptismal font.
