Heydl House in Prachatice

Heydl House in Prachatice

A Burgher House with a Gothic Core

This burgher house, originally Gothic, was rebuilt in the Renaissance style after 1540 and later modified in the Classicist style. The house is notable for its sgraffito facade decoration, which includes diamond-pattern and figural ornaments.

The original battlement is adorned with portraits of unknown persons interwoven with plant motifs. Below them runs a sgraffito band of figural compositions featuring nude figures. Near the right corner, one can notice a depiction of a man with a boy, above which there is a plaque bearing the name “Heydl.”
