Castle Tower of Helfenburk

The tower of Helfenburk Castle, standing 15 meters tall, was opened to the public in 1977. From the viewing platform, visitors can enjoy views of the Bohemian Forest, Libín, Boubín, Bobík, Chlum, Javorník, Temelín, Haniperk, Kleť, the Brdy Mountains, and even the Alps on clear days.

The castle ruins are located about 5.5 km from the town of Bavorov in the Strakonice district. It lies within the cadastral area of the village Krajníčko, on the rocky Malošín hill at an elevation of 683 meters. The site has been protected as a cultural monument since 1963.

How to get there

Parking is available for free on a meadow about 1 km below the castle. Access to the castle is via a well-maintained forest asphalt road. Visitors with reduced mobility may drive up to the castle.
