Luč Lookout

Luč Lookout

Mount Luč rises above the left bank of the Vltava River below the Lipno Reservoir. Reaching the summit involves a climb of over 200 meters in elevation, but the effort is well worth it – the peak offers beautiful views westward over the Lipno Reservoir.

The entire hike, at a leisurely pace with stops for views or a snack, will take about four hours. You can start from Loučovice or Lipno nad Vltavou. We recommend starting in Loučovice, as the climb from that side is not as steep or difficult as from Lipno. Begin at the train station, where you can park your car or arrive by train. The whole route to Lipno nad Vltavou follows a blue trail. From Loučovice, the trail ascends to the top of Luč – along the way, you’ll enjoy a lovely forest walk with many boulders lining the path. Just before the top, there’s a rock with a ladder to climb.

Another viewpoint awaits just past the summit of Luč, this time facing east. The blue trail then descends quite steeply until it crosses a paved road. After that, it follows a contour path nearly level all the way to Lipno nad Vltavou. From Lipno, continue across the dam, past the hydropower info center, and take the green trail back to Loučovice.
