Soumarský most Observation Tower
The observation tower is part of the “Soumarské Peat Bog” educational trail in the Šumava Mountains. From the 6-meter-high viewing platform (accessible via 31 steps), visitors can enjoy views of the peat bog, Stožec, the Boubín ridge, and the Želnava Highlands. The total height of the tower is 9 meters.

Open to the public only from June to October.
How to get there
From Volary, follow road No. 39 toward Lenora. After about 4.5 km, turn left (signs toward Stožec, České Žleby, and VPR Dobrá), and after about 500 m you’ll reach a parking area near the railway crossing by the Soumarský most campsite. From there, follow the green hiking trail and then the Soumarské Peat Bog trail for about 1.3 km, with almost no elevation gain.

The educational trail “Soumarské Peat Bog” informs visitors about the development of the peatland, which until recently was used for industrial peat extraction. It also highlights its current state and how, with human help, it is being revitalized and returned to its original natural character and function.
