Vítkův Hrádek Castle Tower
The lookout tower at Vítkův Hrádek offers some of the most stunning views of the Alps from a height of 18 meters – on a clear day. The fully circular gallery provides panoramic views of Lipno Lake, Kleť, Smrčina, Boubín, and the Novohradské Mountains.
How to get there
The only access to the castle is a steep 300-meter climb on a rocky trail from the settlement of Sv. Tomáš, which can be reached in several ways. The best quality paved road starts in Frýdava, which is accessible by ferry from Frymburk or by road from the Lipno dam. The “Tomáš Trail” climbs for more than 5 km through forest to reach Sv. Tomáš.
Other options include the partially parallel Mírová Trail or the Vltavická Trail from the Rakovská Bay side. From the south, you can reach Sv. Tomáš from Pasečná. All mentioned routes are coarse asphalt roads, cautiously passable by road bike. The final rocky section below the castle is suitable only for mountain bikes.
