Viewpoint of the Písek Foresters
The viewpoint at the foot of Jarník Hill received its official name in 1934. Unfortunately, due to the tall trees, the view is no longer as perfect as it once was, but it is still worth visiting. The viewpoint is located near the last stop of the "Path of Painful Stones".
How to get there
The best way to reach the viewpoint is by following the "Path of Painful Stones", which begins at the U Vodáka crossroads (see below).
Additional information
The Path of Painful Stones, also called the Modern Man's Way of the Cross, is located on the eastern edge of the city of Písek in the Písek Hills. The starting point is at the U Vodáka crossroads, and the trail follows the blue-marked tourist route through the picturesque Písek forests. The path is about 1.5 kilometers long and features 14 stations.
Each station is marked by a massive stone block, with a metal ring inscribed with the name of the suffering and a ruby glass lens, symbolizing a drop of blood.
This entire project was designed by students of the Business Academy and Language School with the right to a state language exam in Písek. It is based on the well-known symbolism of the Christian Way of the Cross and its message – fourteen pains – fourteen stations leading to the final stop – the Station of Hope.
