Luč Viewpoint
Mount Luč rises above the left bank of the Vltava River below the Lipno reservoir. Reaching the summit requires ascending more than 200 meters, but the effort is worth it—the western view of the Lipno reservoir is stunning.
How to get there
The entire trip, at a slow pace with stops for scenic views and maybe a snack, will take about 4 hours. You can start from either Loučovice or Lipno nad Vltavou. We recommend starting from Loučovice, as the ascent from that side is not as steep as from Lipno. Begin at the train station, where you can either park or arrive by train. The entire trail to Lipno nad Vltavou follows the blue-marked route. From Loučovice, you climb to the summit of Luč, enjoying a lovely forest walk with many boulders along the way. Just before the summit, there's a rock with a ladder to climb.
Another viewpoint awaits you just past the summit, this time facing east. The blue trail then descends a fairly steep slope, crosses an asphalt road, and continues almost level until you reach Lipno nad Vltavou. From Lipno, you can return to Loučovice via the dam, past the hydroelectric plant's information center, following the green trail.
