Chlum u Třeboně

The market town of Chlum u Třeboně is located in the romantic landscape of South Bohemian fishponds, about 12 km southeast of Třeboň, within the Třeboňsko Protected Landscape Area, by Hejtman Pond.

How to get there

By car, Chlum u Třeboně is 18 km from Třeboň. During the summer months, we recommend cycling from Třeboň—there are several routes to choose from. Whichever you pick, you’ll enjoy about 20 km of flat Třeboň nature without hills.

Additional information

The main landmark of Chlum u Třeboně is undoubtedly the pilgrimage Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, built in 1745. It stands on a hill and is surrounded by valuable Baroque statues of saints. A Way of the Cross and a grand staircase with saint statues lead up from Hejtman Pond to the church.

During the season, regular guided tours are held in the church, revealing its history, closely tied to both major military conflicts of the last century.
