Olšina Pond
A trip to the highest-altitude breeding pond in the Czech Republic – Olšina near Horní Planá.
Olšina Pond is a unique water structure set in the beautiful natural surroundings of the Boletice area. This place is a true oasis of peace in a once-restricted part of the Šumava Mountains near Český Krumlov, which has long been preserved from the impact of modern civilization. Right by the pond, visitors can relax at a recreation facility for a snack, lunch, or dinner, or visit the well-known Fishermen’s Watchtower (Rybářská bašta).
The construction of the Fishermen’s Watchtower dates back to the first half of the 15th century and represents an exceptionally valuable historical monument situated directly on the pond’s dam. Visitors can explore an exhibition dedicated to the history of the village of Olšina, the Olšina Pond itself, and the tradition of fish farming in the region.
