Do you know that...

The Rooster Cross is a rare artistic form of crucifix that represents an element of Šumava folk art and local devotion. In addition to the figure of Christ, the cross features the instruments of the Passion and a rooster at the top, symbolizing Peter's denial – it is this rooster that gives the cross its name. This type of crucifix originated in Bavaria, where it was common during the 18th and 19th centuries. It later appeared in the Šumava region during the 19th century, but only a few examples have survived.
