Viewing Platform on Mandlstein Hill in Austria
Mandlstein Hill rises right on the Czech-Austrian border to an elevation of 874 meters above sea level.
At its summit, visitors can access a viewing platform and, with the help of a mounted telescope, enjoy views into South Bohemia. Mandlstein has been—and still is—a gathering place for German-speaking inhabitants who were forced to leave their homes after 1945. That is also why there is a memorial with a small chapel at the top.
