Church of St. Peter and Paul in Albrechtice
Significant Romanesque church with a chapel cemetery.
The cemetery church of St. Peter and Paul in Albrechtice is one of the most important historical landmarks in South Bohemia. It was built around the year 1190. Its original Romanesque style is recognizable by the prismatic tower with paired windows in the top floor.
The church walls are decorated with monumental Romanesque frescoes of the Last Judgment. These paintings date back to the founding of the church and are among the oldest in Bohemia. Another interesting feature is a pair of tombstones from the late 16th and early 17th centuries, made for deceased knights of the Oudražský family.
By the cemetery wall near the church lies a village cemetery with 108 small chapels, adorned with folk paintings and poetic epitaphs.
