Grasel Trails – Slavonice
Join us on the paths to places where the infamous "rascal" Johann Georg Grasel once hid and robbed. As a young man, the son of a beggar woman and an executioner, he became the leader of a band of robbers feared throughout the region. He still lives on in songs and folk tales.
The Grasel Trails form seven scenic loops around towns and villages: Raabs (10.5 km), Karlstein (34.5 km), Dobersberg (46 km), Slavonice (23 km), Český Rudolec (9 km), Vratěnín (7 km), Nové Syrovice (10 km), and Nová Bystřice (29 km). The trail from Slavonice through Maříž to Dobersberg (22 km) crosses the border.
Step into an untouched and pristine landscape of shady forests, walk along ancient paths lined with trees. On the Grasel Trails, you'll discover traces of our ancestors’ lives, mythical places, stone fields, and perhaps ancient Celtic sacrificial sites. We invite you to journey through a region that will enrich you with its hidden natural energy.
