Fabián Nature Reserve
The Fabián Nature Reserve is of significant importance, even on a European level. Due to its location in the border zone, the entire area was left to natural development and remains in a non-intervention regime today.
Fabián is a nature reserve and a site of European importance in the Jindřichův Hradec district, southeast of the village of Příbraz and southwest of Lásenice. The area is managed by the Nature Conservation Agency of the Czech Republic. The reserve was declared in 1974 and covers an area of 22 hectares. It is protected for the preservation of submontane oak forests and acidophilic beech woods growing on the rocky slopes of the Homolka and Fabián hills, along with their associated plant and animal communities. The Homolka ridge runs through the reserve with its peaks Homolka and Fabián. On their rocky slopes grow beech and oak forests. Rare fungi like Mycena and the wood-decaying Hericium coralloides can be found here. Nesting species include the Eurasian eagle-owl, pygmy owl, and the critically endangered white-tailed eagle.
No tourist trails lead directly into the reserve. The closest are the blue trail from Staňkov or the green trail from Lásenice.
