Pilgrimage Site and Passion Trail in Římov

In the second half of the 17th century, a pilgrimage site with a Loreto Chapel and a Way of the Cross was established in Římov at the initiative of Jesuit Jan Gurr. Around the chapel, 25 Baroque chapels of the Way of the Cross (the so-called Římov Passion) were built, most of them featuring wooden sculptures.

The chapels date from the second half of the 17th and the first quarter of the 18th century and are scattered over a 5-kilometre circuit. Their placement in the landscape corresponds to the layout of the traditional Way of the Cross in Jerusalem.
