Additional information
The first mention of the mill in Božetice, in the Písek district, dates back to the first half of the 16th century. At the beginning of the 20th century, the mill underwent extensive modernization – the original wooden waterwheel was replaced with a turbine. The mill continued grinding grain until 1945, but from the 1950s, the local agricultural cooperative used the building as a warehouse, which significantly affected its condition. The bakery operated until the 1970s, after which it fell into disrepair. In 1990, the Dvořák family received the estate back through restitution and tried to restore the buildings. In 1998, businessman Zdeněk Stejskal bought the entire mill complex. He managed to repair the roof and carry out some essential maintenance to prevent further decay. In 2014, a full renovation of the mill began, transforming it into the Museum of Milling, Baking, and Agriculture.
