South Bohemian wetlands

In summer, the fertile region sparkles with gold, bright green and dark bands of dark forests.

The landscape of South Bohemian fairy tales – grain smells from the fields, pine pitch from the woods, mud and moss from Blata canal. Villages are scattered all over the region. 

The landscape is flat as a board on the left bank of the Lužnice, between Veselí and Soběslav behind a low ridge. If you go here, you get to Blata and suddenly it seems like being in another world. People from Blata were very rich and very proud and their costumes are famous for their decoration with rich embroidery.

Local villages experienced the greatest fame in 19th century. Most of the houses built in the rural Baroque style, which its white and ocher gables with a flower, a cross. They decorate the village squares of fairy-tale villages, the most beautiful in the country.
