Kubova Huť Railway Station

Kubova Huť Railway Station

The highest-altitude railway station in the Czech Republic.

The first mention of the village of Kubova Huť dates back to 1728, when Johann Podschneider founded a glassworks here. The village was named after the estate bailiff Guba, thus the name Kubova Huť. In 1899, the highest-altitude railway station in the Czech Republic was built here. The railway line connecting the towns of Vimperk and Volary was constructed in 1899 and lies at an elevation of 995 meters above sea level.

The village features several historic buildings, including the Kubeš and Götz houses, which showcase traditional Šumava (Bohemian Forest) architecture. In the center of the village stands a typical Schwarzenberg hunting lodge from 1908.
