Vimperk Arboretum

Vimperk Arboretum

Discover nature in the heart of the city. The Vimperk Arboretum is a historically significant dendrological garden established in 1959 on a 1.1-hectare site by the then forestry school. It is located in the center of the town and features common, unknown, and forgotten tree species.

How to get there

The quiet zone is accessible from the castle via a chestnut-lined avenue, and nearby is a children's playground next to the summer cinema.

Additional information

There are more than 400 trees and shrubs here, including Japanese larch, Caucasian fir, white-barked, frosty, and giant firs, among others. Originally, the garden served as a teaching space for forestry students, and today it is recognized as a demonstration, tranquil, and educational zone.

A charming feature of the garden is the small statues of fairy-tale characters scattered throughout the grounds.
