Kostelec
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary in Kostelec is the oldest church in the Tábor region.
Visible from afar, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary stands atop a hill above the village of Nový Kostelec, near Borotín.
One part of the church is Gothic, while the older section dates back to the Romanesque period, making it not only a cultural monument but also the oldest church in the entire Tábor area. In addition to architectural beauty and spiritual charm, you’ll find the surrounding nature just as captivating – the church marks one of the edges of the Jistebnická Highlands Natural Park.
