Dudák – Municipal Brewery Strakonice

The origins of Strakonice beer date back to 1308, although brewing likely began even earlier. Official brewing rights were granted to the townspeople on December 8, 1367, through a charter by Bavor IV, upon payment to the royal treasury.

Don't miss a guided tour of the Strakonice Municipal Brewery, including a tasting of the local unpasteurized beer Dudák, drawn straight from the lager tanks.

We recommend a visit to the brewery's "tasting room."

The brewery exclusively produces unpasteurized beer. The annual production is around 63,000 hectoliters. The assortment includes popular types of beer such as the pale draught beer Švanda, pale lagers Dudák 11%, Dudák Premium, Otavský zlatý, Král Šumavy, and the semi-dark lager Klostermann. Another favorite is the unfiltered pale lager Sklepák 11%. In the summer months, customers can enjoy a mixed drink with grapefruit flavor – Zlaťák. Strakonice beers are highly rated in tasting competitions. In 2016, Strakonice beer once again made it to the podium at the Žatec Dočesná competition, with participation from 25 breweries. Klostermann won an excellent 3rd place in the semi-dark beer category.
