Malenice

The Malenice area was already inhabited by the Celts as early as the 5th century BC.

The village of Malenice is located in the Strakonice District. The first written mention of the village dates back to 1318. In 2008, the municipality was awarded the title “Village of the Year 2008 of the South Bohemian Region” and took 3rd place in the national round of the Village of the Year competition.

Landmarks: Church of St. James the Greater, Chapel of St. Wenceslas, parish house, hammer mill, roadside chapel.

Notable figures of the village: architect Josef Zítek, archivist František Teplý, conductor Jaroslav Janovec, Colonel Alois Šedivý, Anna Hüttnerová, actor Jiří Pleskot, academic painter Jaroslav Pešek, director Zdeněk Podskalský, painter Josef Hodouš, Prof. MUDr. Marie Pešková, choirmaster Pavel Kühn.
